Do trends help operators identify process changes more quickly?
Senior design project for students from Wright State University examined the ability to detect process changes with and without trend data. Different degrees of rate of change were utilized for the trend and no-trend condition. As predicted, trends yielded better performance with lower mental workload than the no-trend condition.
The intent of this project was to assess the performance of trends in identifying process changes.
Does the use of trends decrease time to detect changes to process variables.
