The CAARGO video was a follow project to demonstrate the tools covered in the CAARGO manual. The project was completed by Dr. Gary Klein, Joseph Borders, and John Schmidt of ShadowBox LLC.
The video covers the CAARGO elements and compares effective use of the tools against ineffective training. A post dialogue is also used to highlight points in the comparisons.
Future research could include a CAARGO evaluation. The researchers would evaluate the effectiveness of the videos to identify gaps and collect feedback from the users to update the materials to make them more user friendly.
Provide CAARGO training video that will help COP members introduce and sustain CAARGO training methods at their locations.
ShadowBox LLC developed and pilot tested four dimensions of a cognitive tool kit for trainers to use during scenario training and after-action reviews: discovering your own training mindset, identifying cognitive traps, digging deeper, and leveraging near misses. The tool kit was delivered to COP members with the caution that without additional supports and sustainment practices CAARGO may not get fully utilized.
The ShadowBox team proposed the development of a training video illustrating a trainer employing CAARGO methods. The purpose of the video is to serve as CAARGO description for plant personnel who were unable to attend a workshop, or for plants that do not want a workshop. The video can be used to 1) introduce CAARGO and onboard new trainers and 2) provide exercises for trainers to test their knowledge of CAARGO concepts and practice using these skills.
